The Middlebury volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday during the final day of the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Ramapo. In Saturday's first contest, the Panthers (8-2) defeated NYU in four sets (25-11, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20) and eased in the afternoon past the host Roadrunners in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-19). The Panthers open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday when play host Colby-Sawyer at 7:00 p.m.

Against the Violets (3-11), Becca Raffel led the Middlebury attack with 16 kills as well as nine digs, while Sarah Staver was also in double figures with 11 kills. Eliana Schaefer and Isabel Sessions put down nine kills apiece, while Emma Walsh handed out 38 assists to go along with eight digs. Beth Neal, Raffel and Walsh each recorded a pair of service aces, respectively.

Defensively, Gigi Alper tied Raffel for team-high honors with nine digs, while Neal had eight and Emily Kolodka added six. With those six digs, Kolodka eclipsed the 1,000-dig plateau for her career. Schaefer had a block solo and two block assists at the net for Middlebury.

In the final match against Ramapo (10-3), Raffel recorded a team-best 13 kills to go along with 15 digs, while Staver finished with nine kills and a .444 hitting percentage (9-1-18). Walsh had 35 assists for the Panthers, while Staver also produced a pair of service aces.

Alper tallied a team-best 19 digs for the visitors, while Walsh chipped in with 13. Alice Roberts concluded the match with five block assists in addition to five kills for Middlebury.
