Box Score Middlebury held Hamilton without a goal for a span of 27:52, on its way to a 20-7 win over the Continentals (3-7, 1-5) on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. The Panthers (4-6, 2-4) return to action on Saturday at Bates, while Hamilton will visit Tufts on the same day.
Middlebury jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Hamilton scored the game's next three goals for a 3-2 advantage with 56 seconds left in the first quarter. Clay McCollum's goal from long range gave the Continentals their only lead of the game. Middlebury's A.J. Kucinski responded 28 seconds later, tying the game the game at 3-3 after 15 minutes of play.
The Panthers went up 5-3 in the second quarter before Hamilton's Owen McCarthy beat a defender to make it a one-goal game at the 10:02. That goal would be the last one the Continentals would score until the 12:10 mark of the fourth quarter, as Middlebury tallied the game's next 12 goals.
The first four goals came in a span of 2:35 as Kucinski netted three of the four to put his team on top 9-4 with 3:16 left until the break. Parker Lawlor closed the half with the 10th goal of the game, as Middlebury took a 10-4 lead into the break.
Leading 11-4 early in in the third quarter, Danny Jacobs found the back of the net with a blast to the top left corner as the Panthers continued to roll. Chase Goree scored with a two-man advantage, before John Jackson won a face-off and scored just eight seconds later for a 14-4 lead. Henry Riehl closed the stanza with a pair of goals as the Panthers led 16-4 after the third quarter.
Middlebury's J.P. Miller added to the lead before back-to-back goals from Hamilton's J.D. Brachman, which were both assisted by Henry Hunt, made it a 17-6 game. Middlebury scored three of the contest's final four goals to come away with the 20-7 win.
Kucinski led all scorers with five goals, while Riehl earned his third-straight six-point game with two goals and four assists. He now leads the NESCAC with 31 goals. Lawlor and Jacobs each picked up two goals in the win. Jackson won 12-16 face-offs and picked up a game-high 10 ground balls, while Jake Madnick was 13-14 from the X with six grounders. Kucinski added five ground balls in the win, while Jack DeFrino caused a pair of turnovers. Charles Midgley earned his first career win in goal, making eight saves in 45 minutes of action.
Brachman and McCollum each scored twice for Hamilton, as Casey Knopp earned a team-high three ground balls. Noah Weissman made three first-half saves, while John Schisler earned four second-half stops.
The 20 goals were a season high for the Panthers, who won 25-31 faceoffs in the contest.
