The top-ranked Middlebury men's tennis recorded a 9-0 home victory on Saturday over Trinity (5-8, 1-5) at the Proctor Tennis Courts. Middlebury, who improved to 16-1 and 6-0 in the league with its eighth-consecutive win, returns to action on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. match against #8 Wesleyan.
During doubles play, the No. 3 tandem of Kyle Schlanger and Allen Jackson started things off with an 8-0 victory over Courtland Boyle and William Frigerio. The top flight of Lubomir Cuba and William de Quant won 8-4 against William Boyd and Rutendo Matingo, while the second doubles team of Timo van der Geest and Peter Martin made the score 3-0 for the hosts with an 8-4 triumph over Kyle Scheffers and Jagger Riefler.
In singles action, Cuba claimed the team's fourth point at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Matingo, while van der Geest clinched the match at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Riefler. Schlanger picked up a win at No. 3 by 6-0, 6-1 scores against Boyd, while de Quant got by Scheffers in the second spot (6-1, 6-2).
The Panthers' eighth and ninth points came from Jackson at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1) over Winser and Alex Vanezis in the sixth slot against Chris Caskin (6-2, 6-3).
