The fourth-ranked Panther men's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 7-2 home victory over Brandeis (4-4) on Saturday. The match was played indoors in the Duke Nelson Recreation Center. Middlebury (2-0) returns to action Sunday when it travels to Renssalaer at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. match at #26 Skidmore.

During doubles play, the Panthers swept all three matches. The No. 1 duo of Lubomir Cuba and William de Quant started things with an 8-3 victory over David Aizenberg and Tyler Ng.  Allen Jackson and Timo van der Geest doubled the Middlebury advantage with an 8-1 win against Zach Cihlar and Eric Goldberg at No. 3, while the No. 2 flight of Kyle Schlanger and Hamid Derbani sent the hosts into the singles play ahead 3-0 with an 8-5 triumph over Michael Arguello and Jeff Cherkin.

In singles play, the Panthers were victorious in four of the six matches. Cuba put the hosts ahead 4-0 when he won in the top spot by scores of 6-1, 6-3 over Arguello, while de Quant clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the second position over Ng. Schlanger was the next to finish, increasing the Panther advantage to 6-0 via a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 against Brandeis' Mitchell Ostrovsky.

The Judges needed three sets to earn each of their two points. Aizenberg edged van der Geest at No. 4 (3-6, 6-4, 11-9), while Benjamin Wolfe defeated Jackson at No. 5 (3-6, 6-2, 10-6) in the fifth spot.

Alex Vanezis rounded out the scoring for Middlebury with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the sixth slot over Ethan Saal.
