Michael McGean competed in the 500-yard freestyle during the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday. The four-day event is taking place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas and is being hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah.

In the morning preliminary swim, McGean touched the wall with a time of 4:36.37 to finish 29th in the event.

The second day of competition is scheduled to begin Thursday with preliminaries at 11:00 a.m., while the finals are slated for 7:00 p.m.
