The third-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team got back to its winning ways, coming out as the victors in five singles matches during a 6-3 win over #18 Redlands on Wednesday afternoon in southern California. The match was played on Verdieck Courts as part of the Panthers' spring break trip. Middlebury has a day off before returning to action Friday when it squares off at second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 5:00 p.m. in a rematch of last spring's NCAA Semifinal match.

The Panthers opened action Wednesday by dropping two of the three doubles matches against the Bulldogs (10-5). The lone Middlebury point came from the #2 tandem of Ari Smolyar and Noah Farrell by an 8-1 score against Gram Leahy and Ted Burchett.

In singles play, the Panthers battled back and took five of the singles matches. Allen Jackson was the first to finish and tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Leahy at #6. Jackson Frons gave Middlebury a slight lead with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Joey Dulle in the fourth spot, but Redlands' Taylor Hunt tied the match at 3-3 via a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Courtney Mountifield at #5.

Smolyar gave the Panthers a lead they wouldn't relinquish with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) win at the top spot over Lipscomb. Campbell clinched the team win battling back from a set down with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory against Parker Wilson, while Farrell followed suit and pulled out a 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) marathon triumph over Nick Cummins.
