The Middlebury women's basketball team saw its season come to an end with an 80-52 loss at Bowdoin (22-3) in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game played inside Morrell Gymnasium. The Panthers, who entered the tourney as the seventh seed, finish their season with an 11-14 mark, 3-7 in NESCAC play. Bowdoin will meet Amherst in the semifinals.

Shannon Brady connected on 10-16 shots from the field for 25 points, while also collecting eight rebounds to lead the Polar Bears. Ally Silfen scored a career-high 17 points off the bench for the Polar Bears while Sara Binkhorst scored 12 points and five assists for Bowdoin. Kate Kerrigan put home eight points, five assists and had 11 rebounds in the win.

Middlebury was paced by 14 points and 10 caroms from Elizabeth Knox. Sarah Kaufman pitched in 11 points, while Sabrina Weeks added nine points for the Panthers.

The game was close in the early going with Bowdoin holding the lead, but unable to pull away. Kaufman buried a three-pointer from the wing with 7:22 remaining in the opening half for the Panthers to trim the Bowdoin lead to 26-22. Lauren Petit immediately answered with a three-pointer for the Polar Bears, sparking a big seven-minute surge for Bowdoin that pushed its halftime lead to 44-27 following a 30-foot buzzer-beating heave by Sydney Hancock.

The Polar Bears pulled away in the second half, pushing their lead to as many as 30 points en route to the victory.

Bowdoin held a 50-29 edge on the glass, including 27 offensive rebounds. The Polar Bears converted 21 second-chance points and committed just six turnovers in the game. Bowdoin hit on 43% of its shots and held Middlebury to 37% for the contest.
