Trailing 2-0 entering the final period, Middlebury's Cameron Romoff scored the game-winning goal with just 1:07 remaining as part of a three-goal outburst, lifting the Panthers (2-2-2, 2-0-2) to a 3-2 NESCAC win at Tufts (1-4-2, 0-3-1) Saturday at Valley Forum. The Panthers return to action on Friday evening when they are on the road at Hamilton with faceoff set for 7:00 p.m.

After a first period without a goal or a penalty, Tufts tallied a power-play goal when Nick Balboa notched his first career goal at 10:48 of the second period. Just 1:43 later, the Jumbos doubled their lead to 2-0 with Stewart Bell crashing the net and scoring on his own rebound at 12:31.

Middlebury began its comeback in the final period with the first of the season by Max Greenwald at the 2:40 mark. Greenwald collected a loose puck at the blue line, took a few strides and beat Nik Nugnes stick side to pull the Panthers within one at 2-1.

Four minutes later, Paul Falvey stuck a shot from the circle under the cross bar to tie the score at 2-2 6:44 into the third period for his first goal of the winter.

Middlebury controlled the third period, finishing with a 20-10 shots advantage.

After Romoff tallied the game-winning score, his first goal of the season, the Panthers controlled possession and Tufts was unable to pull the goalie until just 15 seconds remained.

The Jumbos applied some last-second pressure on Middlebury's net, but Stephen Klein recorded saves down the stretch for the win.

Middlebury held a 52-35 advantage in shots for the game. One penalty was called during the game, as Tufts took advantage with Balboa's score in the middle period. Klein (2-1-1) finished with 33 stops for the Panthers, while Nugnes (1-1-1) was credited with 49 saves.
