The Middlebury Men's Tennis Invitational has come to an end with the host school boasting eight of 12 spots in Sunday's finals. Matches were contested outdoors at the Proctor Courts on the Middlebury campus.
Ari Smolyar defeated rookie teammate Noah Farrell in the "A" singles flight, 6-3, 4-6, (10-6). "B" singles saw Allen Jackson and Courtney Mountifield advance to the semifinals, with Jackson coming from a set down to pick up a 1-6, 6-4, (10-6) victory. Jackson was then defeated 6-2, 6-3 in the finals.
The "C" singles flight will also be an all-Middlebury final, as Chris Frost and rookie Kyle Schlanger both advanced with a pair of wins. The duo will play the title match later this week.
The Middlebury pair comprised of Frost and Peter Heidrich advanced to the "A" doubles title match, but fell to a duo from Bates by an 8-4 score. The "B" doubles championship featured a pair of Panther duos, as Schlanger and William de Quant defeated Jackson and Jackson Frons, 9-7.
