The Panther swimming and diving teams opened up their respective 2014-15 seasons with a road meet against Connecticut College. The Middlebury women were edged by the Camels by a score of 153-127, while the men were defeated by a 172-90 tally.
Jamie Hillas led the women with three individual victories. She took home the 100 breaststroke (1:06.17), 100 fly (59.19) and 200 individual medley (2:12.90) titles. Diver Elissa DeNunzio was a winner in both the 1-meter (202.88) and 3-meter (220.65) competitions. In the final event of the day, the quartet of Morgan Burke, Megan Griffin, Ann Carpenter and Courtney Haron posted a winning time of 1:41.69 in the 200 free relay.
For the men, Matthew Lantin was a multiple event winner. He touched the wall first in both the 200 free (1:46.09) and 500 free (4:45.80). Other victories came from Michael McGean in the 1000 free (10:03.03), Stephan Koenigsberger in the 100 breaststroke (58.67) and Bryan Cheuk in the 50 free (22.12).
The Panthers return to the pool next Saturday when they open the home schedule with a tri-match against Tufts and Keene State at 2:00 p.m.
