Men's Tennis Begins Spring Play 3-0

The Panther men's tennis team played its first three spring matches of the season, picking up three wins indoors in Vermont. The 14th-ranked Panthers lost just three of 27 matches over the weekend, as the team returns to action with its annual spring break trip to California on March 23rd.

Middlebury opened with a 9-0 victory over Oneonta. The Panthers were able to earn the win by playing several players not in their top six. Later that day, the team earned an 8-1 victory over Brandeis. Junior Alex Johnston (Leeds, England) earned a quality 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 win at #1 singles in the match, while first-year player Palmer Campbell (Nashville, Tenn.) earned his first dual win at #3, 6-1, 6-4.

The Panthers earned a NESCAC victory on Sunday, topping 12th-ranked Bates, 7-2. Junior Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.) earned a key win at #2, emerging with a 7-5, 6-2 victory for his team.
