The Middlebury men's tennis team ended its regular season with a 9-0 NESCAC loss to top-ranked Amherst at home. The Jeffs improve to 26-2 with their 12th-straight win, while the seventh-ranked Panthers fall to 12-5 overall.
Amherst jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three hard-fought victories in doubles play. Middlebury took 3-6 singles matches to a third set, but were unable to secure a win. At #1 singles, 31st-ranked Mark Kahan of Amherst outlasted 44th-ranked Brantner Jones of Middlebury, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Joey Fritz was a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 winner over Spencer Lunghino at #4, while Andrew Jung topped Panther Teddy Fitzgibbons 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the #5 slot.
