Women's Basketball Falls To Colby

Colby closed the first half on a big run and never looked back, on its way to a 69-49 win over Middlebury (6-15, 0-8) in Pepin Gym. The Mules, who shot 15-18 from the free throw line, improve to 15-5, 5-3 in NESCAC play.

Colby jumped out to a 12-5 lead, with the first six points of the game coming from Rachael Mack. Middlebury answered with a 10-2 run, taking a 15-14 lead on a hoop from Tracy Borsinger at the 11:00 mark. The Mules led 22-19 with 7:21 remaining, holding the Panthers to just one bucket for the remainder of the half. The 14-2 run left Colby with a 36-21 lead at the intermission.

A 7-0 charge early in the second half gave the Mules a 49-27 advantage with 14:35 left to play. Middlebury answered with a 9-2 run, cutting the lead to 15 on a hoop from Maddie Moreau with 8:28 remaining. Colby answered and slowly increased its lead, coming away with the 69-49 win.

Borsinger paced the Panthers with 11 points and six rebounds, while Moreau added 10. Brittany Perfetti scored eight with four boards, two assists and two steals.

Jil Vaughan led all players with 17 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with three blocked shots, while shooting 7-10 from the floor. Jacky McLaughlin and Mack added 10 points apiece.
