Men's Swimming and Diving

Swimmers Host Amherst

The Panther swimming and diving teams hosted Amherst in the squad's first home meet of the season. The Middlebury women were defeated 162-132, while the men fell 208-86. The team returns to action next Saturday at Springfield in the final meet of the semester.

Leading the men was first-year racer Stephan Koenigsberger (New York, N.Y.), who won the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.70, while placing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.82). Also earning a win for the men was rookie Carter Pribis (Concord, N.H.), who touched first in the 100 back with a time of 54.38. Junior Ian Mackay (Vero Beach, Fla.) earned a pair of second place finishes, earning the spot in both the 100 fly (52.51) and 50 free (21.76).

Sophomore Jamie Hillas (Woodbridge, Conn.) had a big day for the Panther women, winning two events while earning a second place finish. Her time of 1:05.03 in the 100 breaststroke is the fourth fastest time in Division III this season, earning her an NCAA “B” cut. She earned a win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.82, while placing second in the 200 IM (2:12.59).

First-year racer Madeline Pierce (Weston, Mass.) earned a victory in the 200 back (2:13.60), while sophomore Maddy Berkman (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) placed second in both the 100 (59.71) and 200 fly (2:11.26) races. Earning wins against her teammates in both the 1M (244.88) and 3M (256.28) diving competitions was senior Hannah King (Paget, Bermuda).
