The Middlebury College men's tennis team had a solid weekend at Dartmouth, taking part in the Dartmouth Shootout with Williams and other Division I schools. Five eight-man singles brackets took place, with two doubles brackets, along with a round robin doubles bracket.

First-year player Ari Smolyar (Short Hills, N.J.) was a winner for Middlebury in the #5 singles bracket, coming from a set down to pick up a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win in the finals. Senior Spencer Lunghino (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) advanced to the finals at #4 singles, before falling 7-5, 7-6, while senior William Oberrender (Edina, Minn.) won the back draw, 6-4, 7-6.

At 1B singles, rookie Palmer Campbell (Nashville, Tenn.) won a three-set match before being eliminated in the semifinals, 7-5, 6-4. Senior Alec Parower (Scarsdale, N.Y.) won the back draw 6-4, 6-2 in 1A singles, while first-year player Jackson Frons (Encino, Calif.) did the same in #3 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles play, Lunghino and junior Alex Johnston (Leeds, England) won the #1 bracket, 8-3, while Smolyar and sophomore Courtney Mountifield (Bedford, N.H.) went 3-0 in the round robin bracket.
