Volleyball Tops Tufts To End Regular Season

Middlebury ended its regular season with another NESCAC win, topping Tufts 3-0 (21, 13, 20) in Pepin Gym. The Panthers (19-6, 8-2) have earned the second seed for the NESCAC Tournament and will take on seventh-seeded Trinity on Friday, November 2nd at Connecticut College. The Jumbos (13-12, 6-4) have earned the sixth seed and will take on third-seeded Bowdoin on the same day.

Middlebury hit .245 in the match on its way to a three-set victory. After taking the opening set 25-21, the Panthers held Tufts to a -.067 hitting percentage in the second set as they cruised to a 25-13 win. The Jumbos came on strong late in the third set, but fell 25-20.

Megan Jarchow paced the Panthers with 14 kills and a .393 hitting percentage, followed by Amy Hart with nine and Julia Gibbs (4 service aces) with eight. Caitlin Barrett earned 16 digs in the match, followed by Kathryn Haderlein with 13 and 31 assists, and Gibbs with a dozen.

Kelly Brennan and Jess Ingrum led Tufts with four kills apiece, while Kendall Lord and Virginia Clay each had nine digs. Lord added 16 assists in the match as each team had 10 block assists in the contest.
