Women's Basketball Drops Game To Salve

Middlebury dropped game two at the Maine Maritime Tournament, falling 64-46 in the consolation game vs. Salve Regina (3-5). The Panthers (3-6) open up NESCAC play this weekend when they host Bates and Tufts on Friday and Saturday.

Salve Regina came out of the gate flying, taking a 20-3 lead at the 13:22 mark. The Panthers had seven turnovers during that span, going 1-5 from the floor. Middlebury cut the lead to 13 on a pair of free throws from Tracy Borsinger at the 7:29 mark, with the Seahawks extending their advantage to 35-17 at the half.

The lead grew to as many as 27 early in the second half, with Middlebury coming within 18 on three different occasions, including a hoop at the buzzer from Maddie Moreau.

Moreau led the team with 13 points and was named to the all-tournament team, while Borsinger added 11. Stephany Surrette grabbed seven boards in the game, while Katie Ritter and Jesse Miller had six apiece.

Marissa Pendergast led all scorers with 25 points and eight rebounds on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor. Lindsay Shorey added 19 points and nine boards for the Seahawks.
