The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams picked up wins over the weekend on a trip to Maine. The Panther women defeated Colby 158-124 and Bates 183-117, while the men beat the Mules 165-97 and the Bobcats 205-82. Middlebury athletes won dozens of events over the weekend, including setting some new pool records.

Senior John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) won three events (200 free-1:47.54, 100 IM-54.71) at Colby, including the 100 fly where he set a new pool record with a time of 51.83. Dillon also captured the 200 fly (1:56.68) and the 100 fly (51.98) at Bates. Sophomore Nick Daly (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) won the 50 free (22.25) vs. Colby, while capturing the 200 free (1:49.25) and the 500 free (5:02.31) at Bates. In men's diving, sophomore Omar Carmical (San Leandro, Calif.) won all four diving competitions he competed in. The men's 200 free relay team comprised of Dillon, Daly, junior Jay Li (Las Flores, Calif.) and senior Schuyler Beeman (Guilford, Conn.) set a new Bates pool record with a time of 1:26.64 to win the event.

On the women's side, first-year racer Jen Friedlander (Deephaven, Minn.) won five events over the weekend for the Panthers. She captured the 400 IM (4:39.27) and 100 fly (1:01.34) at Colby), while winning the 200 fly (2:12.37), 500 free (5:15.58) and 400 IM (4:40.56) at Bates. Fellow rookie Salena Casha (Andover, Mass.) was a winner in the 50 (32.71) and 100 (1:10.70) breaststroke at Colby, while capturing the 200 free (1:58.36) at Bates. Earning NCAA Standards in diving at Bates was sophomore Meagan Collins (Darien, Conn.), who earned 254.77 points in 1M and 258.07 in the 3M competition.
