Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

Middlebury ended its semester with its third straight win, as they topped Union 51-46 in Pepin Gym. The Panthers move to 3-3 on the season, while Union falls to 0-3. Middlebury scored 21 points off 24 Union turnovers in the game, while their bench held a 15-6 scoring advantage.

Union looked good early, taking a 20-10 lead in the game's first 10 minutes. Following a pair of hoops, Middlebury came right back with a 10-0 run, tying the game at 22 behind four points apiece for Stephany Surette and Alana Wall. Union took a 26-25 lead into the intermission, shooting .476 from the floor.

The Panthers started strong in the second half, going on an 11-2 run to take a 38-28 lead with 14:46 remaining. The Dutchwomen outscored the Panthers 14-5 over the next 10 minutes, cutting the lead to 43-42 with 7:40 left to play.

Kaitlyn Fallon scored on a put-back for the Panthers with 1:54 remaining, giving them a 47-45 lead. Two possessions later, Leah Kepping came up with a big steal for the Panthers, leading to a jumper from Wall as the shot clock expired for a four-point lead. Union converted a free throw before Kepping knocked down a pair with four seconds left to secure the win.

Surette led the Panthers with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Wall scored 10 with 10 boards. Megan Clark of Union led all scorers with 15, while Laurent McCormick netted 10.
