The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams competed at Amherst on Saturday, ending their first semester of action. The women's team was defeated 188-108, while the men fell by a score of 198-90. Senior John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) led the men's team with a pair of wins, capturing the 100 fly in 52.40 and the 200 fly in 1:59.26. Finishing in second place for the men was the 400 free relay team comprised of junior Jay Li (Las Flores, Calif.), first-year racer Ethan Litman (Bethesda, Md.) and sophomores Nick Daly (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Adam Schaffer (Orinda, Calif.).
Pacing the women with a pair of wins was first-year racer Jen Friedlander (Deephaven, Minn.). The rookie won both the 100 fly (1:00.36) and the 200 fly (2:11.13) at Amherst. The women's 400 free relay team of junior Alyssa Ha (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.), sophomore Katherine Loftus (Madison, Conn.) and first-year racers Audrey Tolbert (Perryville, Md.) and Nora Daly (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) won their event with a time of 3:41.40.
