Volleyball Goes 2-1 At Amherst

The Middlebury women's volleyball team had a solid weekend at Amherst as they took part in the Amherst Classic. The Panthers defeated Westfield State 3-0 on Friday night, before dropping a 3-1 decision to the host school early on Saturday. Middlebury bounced back with a 3-1 win over Brandeis to cap the weekend.

Jane Handel led the offense with 11 kills, while Lindsay Patterson had 13 digs in the win over Westfield. Elissa Goeke had 4.5 blocks in the win as Barrett earned 31 assists.

Middlebury took the third set from Amherst, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers fell 3-1. Patterson had 13 kills and Handel earned 10 to pace the offense. Handel (18), Natalie DuPre (17) and Reisa Bloch were the leaders in digs.

After dropping the first set to Brandeis, Middlebury battled back to win the next three for a 3-1 win in their tournament finale. Handel had a huge match with 24 kills for the Panthers. Patterson added 11 with 17 digs, while DuPre led the team with 19 digs.
