Women's Basketball Drops Road Game At Amherst

Middlebury hung tough but fell 68-59 on the road at 16th-ranked Amherst. The Panthers fall to 9-7, 1-2 in NESCAC play, while the Jeffs move to 17-0 and 3-0 in the league. Amherst took an early lead and led by as many as 12 in the first half. The Panthers cut the lead to six with 3:05 remaining, but found themselves trailing 36-29 at the half.

Middlebury cut the lead to five twice in the second half, but Amherst battled back each time to regain a double-digit lead. The advantage grew to as many as 15 before Middlebury cut the lead to nine on a pair of late free throws from Katie Fisher.

Aylie Baker led Middlebury with 18 points on 9 of 15 shooting, including seven rebounds and five blocks. Ashley Barron scored 11, Fisher netted 10, while Lani Young had nine points and 11 boards.
