Men's Tennis Falls In NCAA Title Match

The men's tennis team saw its hopes of winning a second NCAA Championship in three years come to an end as they fell to Emory, 4-1. The 2004 NCAA Champions and 2005 runners-up receive their second runners-up trophy in as many years. The Panthers end their season with a 22-3 record.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point. The #1 doubles pairing of Ari Beilin and Alex Scott won their match 8-3 while the #3 tandem of Salih Unsal and Brian Waldron won 8-5. In singles action #3 Nathan Edmunds was defeated 6-1, 6-0 to tie the match at 1-1. Brian Waldron at #1 was downed 6-4, 6-2 to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage. Alex Scott extended his match at #6 to three sets, but lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 to make it a 3-1 Emory lead, when Ari Beilin fell at #2 singles 6-0, 6-4 to clinch the match for Emory.

Final Score: Emory 4, Middlebury 1
