Men's Tennis Splits Two Matches

The Middlebury College men's tennis team fell 5-2 at Division I Dartmouth early in the week before bouncing back to pick up a 7-0 NESCAC win over Tufts.

Senior Brian Waldron (Rye, N.Y.) picked up a 7-6, 3-6, 7-5 win at #1 singles at Dartmouth, while junior Alex Scott (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) was a 6-1, 7-6 winner at #6. Waldron and junior George Mayer (Merion, Pa.) were the lone doubles winners, earning an 8-3 win at #3.

The fourth-ranked Panthers had little trouble with Tufts, cruising to a 7-0 win. Waldron (6-0, 6-2) and seniors Ari Beilin (Hamilton, Mass.) (6-1, 6-1) and Nate Edmunds (Birmingham, Mich.) (6-2, 6-2) were all singles winners. First-year player Conrad Olson (Waterloo, Belgium) (6-2, 6-1), Mayer (6-2, 6-2) and Scott (6-2, 6-1) all won their singles matches. In doubles play, Beilin/Scott (8-2), Edmunds and junior Kevin Bergesen (Beverly, Mass.) (8-1) and Waldron/Mayer (8-2) were all winners.
