The Middlebury swimming and diving teams picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, both defeating Hamilton. The men were 173-109 winners, while the women earned a 165-113 victory.

Winning two events for the women on the afternoon were junior Barbara Van der Veer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and first-year swimmer Catherine Suppan (Burlington, Vt.). Van der Veer won the 50 free (25.54) and the 100 free (55.28), while Suppan was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.64) and the 200 backstroke (2:11.79). Five other individuals won events on the day, including sophomores Sara Cowie (N. Palm Beach, Fla.) in the 1000 free (10:40.17), Marika Ross (Shorewood, Wis.) in the 200 free (1:57.41) and Alanna Hanson (Golden Bridge, N.Y.) in one-meter diving (260.55). Also winning were sophomore Anna Flores (W. Hartford, Conn.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.29) and first-year racer Libby Brush (Pittsford, N.Y.) in the 200 fly (2:10.78).

Junior Robert Collier (Catonsville, Md.) paced the men's team, winning the 100 fly (52.37) and the 200 fly (1:59.46) on the afternoon. Other winners on the men's side included rookie Kevin O'Rourke (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) in the 200 free (1:48.10), junior Tim Lux (Sandy Hook, Conn.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.78), sophomore Robbie Burton (Oak Park, Ill.) in the 100 free (49.72) and junior Josh Rayburn (Washington, D.C.) in the 50 free (22.27).

Sophomore Peter Bell (Deerfield, Mass.) picked up a win in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.02), sophomore Guillermo Garcia (Boyds, Md.) won the 500 free (4:57.47), rookie Zach Woods (Monroe, N.Y.) earned a win in the 200 back (1:54.54), while senior Tristram Arscott (Atherton, Calif.) won the one (290.40) and three-meter (262.35) diving competitions.
