Panthers Top Colby-Sawyer

Middlebury outworked Colby-Sawyer with a 27 rebound advantage to earn a hard fought win 66-62 at Pepin Gym for their 10th victory of the season.  The women's basketball team will start NESCAC play this weekend at Connecticut College on Friday.

Middlebury was behind most of the first half and went into the break trailing by one point, 26-25. The Panthers took 29-28 lead just moments into the second half and built an eight-point advantage only to have the Chargers pound away inside to tie it at 41 apiece with 13 minutes to go. Middlebury's lead grew to nine at the 3:22 mark with the Chargers cutting it to two with 13 seconds left.  Two made free throws by Emily Johnson with just 10 seconds secured the victory for Middlebury.

Micaela McVary led Middlebury with 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Katie Fisher and Lacey Hebert chipped in eight points each. Kristen Sorensen led all scores with 17 for Colby-Sawyer.
