Swim Teams Compete At Amherst

The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams were in action last weekend as they competed at Amherst. The men fell 136-95, while the women were defeated 131-111.

Senior diver Tristram Arscott (Atherton, Calif.) won both the one-meter (240.45) and three-meter diving competitions (224.47) on the day. Earning a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:14.49 was sophomore Peter Bell (Deerfield, Mass.). The 400 freestyle relay team comprised of junior John Rayburn (Washington, D.C.), sophomores Guillermo Garcia (Boyds, Md.), Jake Pepper (Barrington, Ill.) and Robbie Burton (Oak Park, Ill.) picked up a win with a time of 3:19.11.

On the women's side, sophomore Sara Cowie (N. Palm Beach, Fla.) won the 500 free in 5:14.18, while capturing the 1000 free with a time of 10:41.41. Sophomore Alanna Hanson (Golden Bridge, N.Y.) won both the one-meter (224.90) and three-meter (225.15) diving competitions, while first-year swimmer Libby Brush (Pittsford, N.Y.) was a winner in the 200 fly (2:13.05).
