Middlebury broke its first three-game losing streak in four years as they defeated St. Anselm 3-1 at the Kenyon Arena. First-year netminder Ross Cherry was impressive in his collegiate debut, as he made 26 saves in goal to earn the win.

St. Anselm took a 1-0 lead with just five seconds left in the first period as John Cronin found Bostjan Kolaric with a cross-crease pass for a one-timer that found the back of the net. Middlebury tied the game only 14 seconds into the second period as Brian Phinney ripped home a slapper from the right face-off circle. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead at the 7:25 mark of the second period as Mickey Gilchrist snapped home a wrister from the right side. Middlebury earned some breathing room with five minutes to go in the game as Gilchrist made some great moves and scored with a backhander from the crease after a great feed from Justin Gaines.

The Hawks pulled their netminder at 16:11 as they went on the power play, but could not score the equalizer with the six-on-four advantage, or the remaining 1:49 with the empty net. Jim Merola made 24 saves for St. Anselm.
