The Panther men's swimming and diving team opened up its season with a meet at Springfield. The men raced well, but came up on the short end of a 174-122 meet.
Sophomore Tim Lux (Sandy Hook, Conn.) paced the team with a pair of wins on the day. He won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.57, while earning a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.24. Winning the 100 backstroke was senior Jason Korsmeyer (Weston, Mass.), first-year racer Guillermo Garcia (Boyds, Md.) won the 400 IM in 4:31.19, while sophomore Robert Collier (Catonsville, Md.) was a winner in the 1000 free with a time of 10:20.64. The 200 freestyle relay team of Korsmeyer, senior David Hawkins (Arlington, Va.), sophomore John Rayburn (Washington, D.C.) and first-year swimmer Jake Pepper (Barrington, Ill.) won the event with a time of 1:28.50.
