Hayes is in his third year as an assistant coach for the Panther baseball team in 2020-21.
As a four-year starter at Castleton, Hayes helped the Spartans win four-straight North Atlantic Conference titles. He compiled an overall career record of 19-4, a 2.66 earned run average and 183 strikeouts in 203.1 innings for the Spartans.
During his senior season in 2017, Hayes posted a 7-1 record with five complete games, a 1.58 earned run average and 59 strikeouts in 62.1 innings of work. Following that year, he garnered First Team All-NAC, All-ECAC New England, ABCA/Rawlings and NEIBA All-Region honors.
After graduating from Castleton, Hayes spent the summer playing in the Alaskan College Baseball League, registering a 3.03 ERA in 32.2 innings of work, striking out 30 batters and tallying a 2-2 record.
In the summer of 2018, Hayes helped the Irish National Baseball team win Pool C of the European Championships, striking out 10 batters in five innings of work against Norway. He plans to continue competing with the Irish National team as well as pursuing professional baseball opportunities in the United States.
