Established as an intercollegiate varsity sport in 1981, the Middlebury women’s hockey team has developed a tradition of excellence that is well-known.
During the past 37 seasons, the Panthers own an impressive record of 698-185-60. The team convincingly captured the ECAC Division III Championship from 1996-2001 and won the 2000 and 2001 AWCHA National Championships. Middlebury followed that stint with an impressive three-year run, capturing NCAA titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The team advanced to the final four in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2022, 2024 and 2025. The 2021-22 team capped a perfect 27-0-0 season by hosting the championship weekend and claiming the NCAA title. The squad was the first Division III program to finish the year with an unblemished mark. The program claimed three straight NESCAC Championships (2016, 2017, 2018). The program has 12 conference crowns, with its most recent coming in 2024. Middlebury has 48 All-American selections.
