The #3 Middlebury men's soccer team held a 14-9 advantage in shots on Tuesday evening, but Hamilton prevented the navy and white from finding the back of the net in a 0-0 draw with Hamilton on Tuesday evening.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers looked to break the seal with 8:19 expired. Harper Nicholl flipped a shot toward the right post that Continental goalie Tobin Walsh dove to his left to smother from point-blank range.
- Keagan Harder darted into the Hamilton end and flicked a cross-box pass to a darting Nicholl in 27th minute. The forward fired a shot near the bottom-left portion of the goal that Walsh pulled into his midsection.
- The visitors put their first shot on target at 27:15. Romaric Mahe parked on the right side of the goalie box and struck a right-footed bid. Goalie Leon Brody made the stop, and the Middlebury defense clamped down to quell the ensuing corner kick.
- Aidan Falvey created the opening half's final chance with three ticks remaining in the stanza off a free kick that sailed near the top-right portion of the netting. Brody tracked the ball and rose for the save to preserve the scoreless tie.
- The guests kept the pressure up with 6:21 expired in the second stanza. Sean Curran split two Panther defenders and fired a chance that caught the wind and sailed over the back netting.
- Middlebury responded with three consecutive opportunities. In the 66th minute, Hamin Kim fired a rising corner, which ricocheted off Will Sawin's head and just above the crossbar.Â
- With 13:25 remaining, Zach Tracy stuck out his right foot for a jump kick at the edge of the box. The shot pushed through a gust of wind and ran high.
- Troy Miller created a breakaway in the 80th minute and raced up the right side of the field. The midfielder fired a shot before a Panther defender crashed to his left, but the chance sailed over the top-left corner.
- Middlebury had the final opportunity with 2:58 remaining off a Hugo Horwitz throw-in. The toss bounced off Sawin's head and toward the center of the box. Charlie Johnson rose over his defender and flicked a chance that pushed inches wide of the left post.
