#10 Women’s Golf Claims Team Crown at George Phinney Classic

The Panthers celebrate after claiming the George Phinney Classic team title.
The #10 Middlebury women's golf team claimed the team title for the second time in as many tournaments this fall, winning the George Phinney Classic with a 36-hole score of 625. Fourth-ranked Williams claimed runner-up honors (628), while #5 Amherst (631) secured third place.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Season Wei bettered her opening-round score by four strokes during Sunday's second trip around the course. The Panther carded a 154 to claim fourth place, earning a birdie on each side in the final round.
  • Picking up a pair of birdies in her final six holes, Ella Han shot a two-over 73 in Saturday's competition. She followed with an 82 in round two to finish one stroke behind Wei in fifth place.
  • Julia Hua shared sixth place with two others, carding totals of 78 and 79 for a 157.
  • The next competitor was Teegan Duffy who improved on her initial-round effort to tie for 14th with three others recording a 159 (80-79). 
  • Julia Hua closed out the Middlebury scorers, firing a 36-hole effort of 163 (80-83) to tie for 26th. 
NOTES
  • Megan Kalapura paced the Middlebury 'B' squad with a 166 (77-89) to grab a share of 34th.
  • Olivia Pak posted career-best efforts in a round (83) and a weekend (170). 
  • The Panthers claimed victory in their home event for the first time since 2019.
Middlebury returns to action next weekend when it travels south to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the Williams Fall Invitational. Competition is slated to begin on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
