The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's cross country team finished with 81 points to secure third place in the annual Aldrich Invitational. The team title was earned by #19 Williams with 21 points, while sixth-ranked Tufts was the runner-up, scoring 40 points.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Panthers placed five runners inside the top 25 during the highly competitive event. Benjamin Hughes paced a trio of athletes, posting a 14th-place time of 26:30.5.
• Benjamin Prestes trailed Hughes by four-tenths of a second to claim 15th, finishing in 26:30.9. Nate Johnson was less than four seconds behind Prestes, recording a clocking of 26:34.5.
• Ian Larkin stopped his clock at 26:54.8 for 23rd, while Solomon McDow rounded out the scorers in 25th (27:05.8).
• The duo of Nathan Szubin (27:11.6) and Quinn Kilkenny (27:13.5) were close behind in 27th and 28th, respectively.

NOTES

• Starting in 2011, the invitational was named after Middlebury Athletics Hall of Famer Terry Aldrich. He served as the head men's and women's cross country coach from 1975-2010 and has been the starter for the annual meet.

The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational hosted by Dartmouth. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
