Middlebury Claims Six CSC Academic All-District Nods

Six Panthers garnered CSC Academic All-District praise.
Six members of the Middlebury women's cross country and track and field programs were recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selections. Naomi Atwood, Lily Bulczynski, Mary Elliot, Audrey MacLean, Emily Rubio and Lilly Wurtz were highlighted on the squad.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Atwood
    • Atwood, a rising junior, earns her initial Academic All-District nod as an earth and climate sciences major.
    • The Panther contributed in all three seasons, headlined by a Second-Team All-American nod during the distance medley relay (DMR) at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
    • In the Mideast, Atwood slotted in 44th place during the cross country season (23:08.9), finished sixth in the 800-meter run (2:14.28) and 39th in the mile (5:12.81) indoors and garnered eighth in the 800 in the outdoor portion (2:12.75).
    • She collected an All-NESCAC distinction after placing third as a member of the 4x800 relay at the conference event.
    • The sophomore accumulated a trio of United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region accolades.
    • She is a two-time USTFCCCA and a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree.
  • Bulczynski
    • Bulczynski collects her initial academic praise from the organization after graduating with a degree in biology.
    • The senior joined Atwood on the indoor DMR team to secure her first All-American laurel and was also an All-NESCAC honoree in the 4x400 relay.
    • Bulczynski placed 24th regionally in the indoor 800 (2:19.30), while claiming fifth regionally and 33rd nationally in the event this spring outdoors (2:11.14). She also took 17th in the Mideast in the 400 at 58.48 seconds.
    • The recent graduate garnered USTFCCCA regional recognition in a trio of events.
    • The team captain earned one USTFCCCA All-Academic nod and seven conference classroom awards.
  • Elliot
    • Elliot, a first-time CSC Academic All-District choice, earned her degree in psychology from Middlebury.
    • The Panther collected an all-league laurel as a leg of the 4x100 relay.
    • Among her regional peers, Elliot grabbed 18th and 22nd in the indoor 400 (59.26) and 800 (2:19.25), respectively. Outdoors, she tied for 15th in the 400 (58.40) and took 33rd in the 800 (2:20.51).
    • The captain earned Mideast distinction in the indoor 4x400 and outdoor 4x100 relays.
    • Elliot is a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic and six-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree.
  • MacLean
    • MacLean, a 2025 Academic All-American Second-Team selection, collects her second all-district distinction as a rising senior studying molecular biology and biochemistry.
    • The Panther became the second individual national champion in program history, stopping the clock at 20:16.8 to lead the field at the NCAA Cross Country Championships by nearly 47 seconds. Her time was the sixth-fastest six-kilometer clocking in championship history.
    • MacLean also broke the tape with the winning time at the NESCAC (20:47.8) and Mideast Region (21:21.6) Championships.
    • She raked in USTFCCCA accolades, being regarded as the National and Regional Women's Athlete of the Year as well as the school's first Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.
    • The Panther has collected quartets of NESCAC and USTFCCCA All-Academic selections.
  • Rubio
    • Rubio lands on her second Academic All-District team after completing her studies with a degree in neuroscience this spring.
    • She brought home her second All-American distinction this winter, representing Middlebury with an 11th-place finish in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
    • The graduate was regionally ranked across numerous events. Her total of 3,493 points in the pentathlon was good for second in the Mideast and 16th nationally during the indoor slate.
    • During the outdoor campaign, Rubio held top-10 spots in the high jump (1.65m - sixth) and long jump (5.56m - tied for eighth). She also logged the 17th-fastest clocking in the 400 hurdles at 1:08.12 and finished 32nd in the shot put (10.32m).
    • The captain totaled four all-region accolades on the track this season.
    • Rubio touts one USTFCCCA All-Academic and four NESCAC All-Academic selections.
  • Wurtz
    • Wurtz graduated from Middlebury with a degree in computer science and earned her first Academic All-District tabbing.
    • The Panther dominated the Mideast region. Indoors, she recorded the second-best distance in the weight throw (16.81m) and was fourth in the shot put (12.83m). Outdoors, Wurtz paced the region with a discus hurl of 45.55m, while holding second in the shot put (12.74m) and fourth in the hammer (49.59m).
    • The thrower headlined the NESCAC with individual championships in the discus and shot put, becoming the program's second conference champion in each event.
    • She tallied nine USTFCCCA All-Region honors and 12 discipline victories throughout the winter and spring.
    • Wurtz is a five-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree.
An athlete must be a sophomore athletically or higher, hold a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher, have been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year and be a starter or key reserve on their team to be eligible for the honor.
