Men’s Track and Field Logs 28 USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

The Middlebury men's track & field team had 21 individuals and two relay squads put together 28 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region accolades.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Caleb Smith led the Panther contingent with regional honors in three disciplines. The junior paced the Mideast in the decathlon after scoring 6,680 points at the Tufts Spring Stampede. He slotted sixth in the long jump with his program-record leap of 7.07 meters from the NESCAC Championship and shared eighth with Roger Williams' Ronald Nolin in the high jump (1.88m).
  • Also logging multiple individual all-region recognitions is Caspar. He led the field in the 400 hurdles, stopping the clock at 52.32 seconds during the conference meet. The sophomore also secured the second-quickest 400 time in the region with a 47.37.
  • Benjamin Hughes is the third Panther to secure regional accolades in two events. He clocked a 1:51.58 in the 800 and a 3:47.94 during the 1,500. Those times were third and fifth, respectively.
  • The final athlete with multiple honors is Harvey Jr. He was fifth in the Mideast for the 100 (10.64 seconds) and shared sixth with two competitors during the 200 at 21.60 seconds. Both clockings occurred at the NESCAC Championships.
  • Toby Warmack led the field in the high jump, clearing 2.03m at the conference meet and setting a new school record.
  • In the javelin, rookie Adam Ferreira slotted second with his toss of 59.71m. Sam Spector claimed runner-up accolades during the hammer throw after throwing the implement 56.04m at the NESCAC meet.
  • Four different athletes earned all-region honors in the 3,000 steeplechase, with each performance occurring during the conference meet. Owen Johnson clocked the second-fastest time of 9:06.00, while Solomon McDow slotted fourth at 9:09.39. Kieran McBride (9:11.55) and Ian Larkin (9:16.96) were fourth and eighth, respectively.
  • Two Panthers logged regional accolades in the 400 hurdles. Nate Gardner had the second-quickest clocking at 52.88 seconds. Parker Loupessis secured sixth with his time of 55.01 from the Middlebury Invitational.
  • Finn Albright (14.86 seconds) and Quinn Kennedy (14.96 seconds) were fourth and sixth during the 110 hurdles.
  • Zach Utz secured the sixth-quickest clocking in the 800 with his time of 1:52.00 from the FIRE meet. Bishop was less than a second behind (1:52.79) to grab seventh, while Cameron Miles grabbed the final all-region accolade at 1:53.21.
  • Slotting seventh in the triple jump is Jed Nelson, who slotted seventh after hitting the sand at 13.89m during the NESCAC Championship.
  • Lawton clocked the seventh-quickest clocking in the 400 with his time of 48.52 seconds at the Amherst Spring Fling.
  • Ben Martin closes the Panther regional accolades, finishing with the eighth-furthest discus toss (44.59m) in the Mideast.

Athletes must finish in the top eight in each event or be part of a relay squad to tally all-region laurels. The full list of honorees can be found here.
