Thomas Perry ’25 Signs With Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL

Thomas Perry has been signed by the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Middlebury football's Thomas Perry '25 has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

"I am thankful to have this opportunity with the Roughriders," said Perry. "I am grateful for all of the support, belief, and help on this journey, and am excited to go to Saskatchewan to play football!"

The Panther gained national attention last summer, heading into his senior season while training with Duke Manyweather at OL Masterminds in Texas. Perry went on to post an impressive final campaign in the navy and white, earning a trio of All-American honors and his third consecutive All-NESCAC First Team nod.

The offensive lineman became the only Middlebury player to be invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl. Perry assumed the role of center during the bowl game with only three weeks of training under his belt, and helped lead the East squad to a 25-0 victory. He was also one of two Division III players tabbed to the prestigious Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List last fall. Perry competed at the University of Connecticut's Pro Day in April.

"We are so excited that Thomas has this new opportunity with the Saskatchewan Roughriders," said the Michael G. Heinecken Head Coach of Football Doug Mandigo '96. "No one has worked harder on and off the field than Thomas, and nobody has had the mental toughness to persevere in this process like Thomas has. I have no doubt that he will leave his mark in the CFL!"

In the classroom, Perry achieved a 3.92 grade-point average as a Pre-Med student majoring in molecular biology and biochemistry. He earned his second consecutive CSC Academic All-America laurel this year and has been tabbed to the NESCAC All-Academic team in all three years he was eligible.

The Roughriders are the defending CFL Grey Cup Champions, taking home the trophy in November for the first time in 12 years. The squad begins preseason immediately, with the first game occurring on June 13.
