The Middlebury men's track and field team established a pair of program records and enjoyed several strong qualifying efforts on the initial day of the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams. The Panthers are tied for third alongside the host Ephs with 29 points entering Sunday's action.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Toby Warmack earned NESCAC Champion honors in the high jump, soaring 2.03 meters to establish a new program record and spearhead the field.
• Sam Spector recorded a heave of 56.04m during his penultimate try, finishing second by 0.51m and besting his personal mark by over four meters.
• Caleb Smith nabbed third in the long jump, rewriting the school mark with an effort of 7.07m on his final attempt. Jed Nelson landed in ninth with his best leap of 6.69m.
• In the shot put, Calvin Szoradi heaved the implement 13.60 meters in his penultimate attempt to secure a fifth-place finish. Andreas Panagos recorded a 13.10m to claim ninth.
• In the 10,000 final, Nathan Szubin placed ninth, stopping the clock at 31.23.27.
• Leading the field in the 400 hurdles qualifying heats was Joey Caspar, crossing the line with a time of 52.83 seconds. Nate Gardner was right behind, clocking a 52.88.
• Benjamin Hughes led the pack in the 800-meter run, winning the preliminary race by stopping the clock at 1:51.58. Lachlan Bishop grabbed seventh (1:52.79) to earn a spot in Sunday's championship final.
• Donnell Harvey Jr. dashed to a second-place finish in the preliminary round of the 100, crossing the line at 10.66 seconds. He also qualified for tomorrow's 200 with a top-three showing (21.60).
• Aidan Castanon also grabbed a spot in the 100 championship final with a seventh-place effort of 10.86.
• Finn Albright and Parker Loupessis each qualified for Sunday's heat in the 110 hurdles. Albright claimed third by crossing the line in 14.86 seconds, while Loupessis rounded out the qualifiers in eighth (15.08).
• In the 400, Caspar and Emerson Kington carved out spots for tomorrow's championship event. Caspar finished two-hundredths of a second behind Bowdoin's Noah Rockey for third (48.33), while Kington took seventh (49.84).

NOTES

• Warmack resets the program mark of 2.00 meters achieved by Sam McGarrahan '25.5 during the 2025 championships.
• Smith's long jump mark bests the program record of 7.00m set by Enrique de la Mata '88 in 1986. He also matched that mark earlier this season.

Middlebury concludes the NESCAC Championships on Sunday, with the first events set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
