Anthony Marsella steps into the offensive coordinator role after a combined nine seasons on the Panther staff.
Middlebury has elevated
Anthony Marsella to the offensive coordinator position for the football program. Marsella has spent a combined nine seasons on the Panther staff, most recently serving as the recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2025.
Â
"I couldn't be more excited to have Anthony Marsella become the new offensive coordinator of our football program at Middlebury," said Michael G. Heinecken Head Coach of Football Doug Mandigo '96. "Anthony is an impressively intelligent coach who brings a wealth of experience on both sides of the ball and in the NESCAC. He is creative, efficient and demands close attention to detail. Most importantly, he understands and appreciates Middlebury and will bring a tremendous amount of care to the players in our program."
Â
"I am incredibly honored to be named offensive coordinator of the Panther family," Marsella said. "I'm beyond excited for the opportunity to build on the strong traditions of this program and to work alongside such an outstanding group of student-athletes and coaches. Our players are what make this program special, and I am committed to giving them the best experience possible - on the field, in the classroom, and as young men in the community."
Â
Upon his return to the staff in 2024, Marsella worked with the Middlebury running backs and tight ends. He spent the prior five years as an assistant coach with Vermont State University Castleton after working in a similar role at Salve Regina University from 2016 to 2019.
Â
Marsella's first stint with the Panthers began in 2011 and lasted five years. He has also had coaching stops along the way at Mount Ida College (2010-11) and Wesleyan University (2009-10) following his playing career with the Cardinals.
Â
Marsella earned a pair of varsity letters as a member of the Wesleyan football team, graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology in 2008.
