Men’s Track and Field Sets Trio of Program Marks at Regional Meet

Cameron Miles set a new program mark in the 1,000-meter run on Sunday.
The Middlebury men's track and field team rewrote three program records at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by Tufts and the TRACK at New Balance. Amherst led the field with 103 points, while Tufts and #4 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) followed with 101.5 and 97.5 points, respectively. The Panthers shared fifth place with 38 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Donnell Harvey Jr. reset his own program record in the 60-meter dash, posting a benchmark clocking of 6.78 seconds. The time also undercut Worcester State's Terrance Gibson's time of 6.80 in 2014 for the regional meet record.
  • Cameron Miles was one of three competitors to best the meet mark and sliced 1.79 seconds off the school record in the 1,000 (2:25.33). He also topped his prior personal best set during last year's regional invite (2:28.13) by 2.80 seconds.
  • The Panther lineup of Jack Ulrich, Kieran McBride, Lachlan Bishop and Miles established a program high point in the 4x800 relay, stopping the clock in 7:46.23 to secure fifth place and slice one second off the prior record established last season.
  • The distance medley relay (DMR) quartet of Owen Johnson, Bishop, Benjamin Hughes and Nate Johnson claimed the regional crown with a first-place time of 10:00.88.
  • Jed Nelson landed inside the top 10 during the triple jump, traveling 13.70 meters for 10th in the event. Tony Wang also cleared 13.70m on his first attempt to secure 11th.
NOTES
  • Miles rewrote the program mark established by Kevin Serrao in 2017.
The Panthers will send select competitors to New York on Friday and Saturday for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships.
