#13 Panthers Downed By #7 Amherst In Regular-Season Finale

Sabrina Schwarz collected her third-straight win.
The #13 Middlebury women's squash team claimed Sunday's first point against #7 Amherst, but the Mammoths secured the next five on their way to a 6-3 win from the Davenport Squash Courts.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers jumped ahead when Sabrina Schwarz swept Alexandra Brown by scores of 11-8, 13-11 and 11-6 in the fourth spot.
  • Amherst surged back with a pair of three-game victories at #9 and #1 for a 2-1 edge.
  • Lillian Showalter and Izzy Ronda each won their opening games in the sixth and third spots, but their respective opponents claimed the second, third and fourth games to give the hosts a 4-1 advantage. 
  • Kristen Daniel clinched the decisive point with a sweep in the middle of the ladder.
  • Madeline Schwarz ended the run, battling back from an opening-game loss for a 3-1 triumph over Kate Grissom (9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 11-8) at #7.
  • After a three-game win from Amherst's Brigid Brandon a slot below. Aanvi Anand closed the match in style, securing an ebb-and-flow victory over Anastasiia Krykun (12-10, 12-14, 12-10, 6-11, 11-4) for the final 6-3 score.
NOTES
  • Madeline Schwarz secured her third-straight win and improved to 9-2 this winter.
  • The programs met for the 61st matchup in the all-time series.
Middlebury travels to New York for the NESCAC Championship on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15. Hamilton will host the event with the opponents and times to be announced on Tuesday by the league office.
