Kian Kardestuncer posted a sweep at #4 on Saturday.
The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team kicked off its final weekend of the regular season, easing past Connecticut College 8-1. The match was played at Amherst's Davenport Squash Courts.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Seven of the eight Panther points were three-game sweeps. Gabe Feinstein started the run with an 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 triumph at the top of the ladder.
- Charlie Clifford and Ward McGill squared off in the ninth spot. Clifford posted 11-4 and 11-6 decisions in the first two games before outlasting McGill 18-16 in the third for a 2-0 Middlebury advantage.
- At #4, Kian Kardestuncer slipped past Noah Fish (11-3, 11-9, 11-4), while Theo Kogan needed extra points to secure a sweep against Hayden Okurowski in the sixth slot (11-4, 11-3, 13-11).
- Nico Brown clinched the match for the Panthers behind an 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 decision in the seventh position.
- Camel Adam Elkaliouby won the opening game at #3 against Aditya Kothari, but the Panther rebounded with 11-6, 11-7 and 11-7 victories for a 6-0 lead.
- Caleb Boateng followed with a 26-minute sweep in the middle of the ladder over Thomas Overton III (11-1, 11-5, 11-4).
- Arman Sana earned the lone Camel win of the match via retirement.
- David Zhao capped the battle with an 11-8, 11-3, 11-3 triumph at #2 against Sid Rewari for the final 8-1 decision.
NOTES
- Kardestuncer's triumph was the 40th of his career, while Zhao earned his 25th.
- Naum Lekovic swept Anthony Valladares in the exhibition match (11-6, 11-5, 11-1).
- The programs met for the 11th time, with Middlebury winning each contest.
The Panthers conclude the regular-season portion of their schedule on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against #14 Amherst.
