Captain Julian Wu has been a mainstay in the Panther lineup for his career. Wu enters the season in a fourth-place tie in the record books in singles triumphs (69), including eight last fall. His 55 victories in doubles are tied for 10th. The senior has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American and All-NESCAC honors during his career, mainly competing at #2 singles and #3 doubles a year ago. He has also earned berths to the NCAA Singles Championship and the ITA Cup (singles).
Hugh Hentschel, Thehan Wijemanne and Noah Lewis also return for Middlebury this spring. Hentschel, a two-year captain, tallied a 21-7 record in doubles a year ago, mainly in the #2 slot. He comes into the season with 50 career triumphs in doubles action. He also earned 13 wins individually last year. Wijemanne competed in the third through sixth singles spots a year ago, amassing a team-best 24 wins against just six defeats. The junior was an ITA All-American in doubles, qualified in the NCAA Individual Championships, and finished the year as part of a duo that ranked fourth in Division III. He also garnered All-NESCAC First-Team Doubles praises with a 22-7 mark.
Lewis settled into the fourth position last season, posting 10 wins. A captain this season, he accounted for 12 triumphs during doubles play a campaign ago.
