Lindsey Burnham was the lone Panther to earn a triumph.
The #13/fourth-seeded Middlebury women's squash team saw its run at the NESCAC Tournament end with an 8-1 defeat to #6/top-seeded Trinity in the semifinals on Sunday.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bantams raced to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back sweeps in the eighth and fifth positions.
- Izzy Ronda grabbed the first game in her match at #3, but Fabiola Cabello rattled off three in a row (3-11, 11-5, 13-11, 11-5) for Trinity's third point.
- The top-seeded Bantams earned three and four-game victories in the ninth and second slots to seal the match.
- Sabrina Schwarz and Varvara Kliueva went back and forth in the longest battle of the day, splitting the first four games to set up a decisive fifth at #4. Kliueva squeaked out a 12-10 triumph in the final game.
- After the yellow and navy added two more sweeps, Lindsey Burnham tallied a four-game win (11-8, 13-15, 13-11, 11-9) at the top of the ladder for the final 8-1 score
NOTES
- Burnham earned her 34th victory as a member of the Panthers.
- Middlebury becomes the first conference opponent to tally a point on Trinity this winter.
- The sides met for the 32nd time.Â
The Panthers return to action in three weeks at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships. The four-day tournament kicks off on Tuesday, March 3 from the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.
