Nordic Skiing Begins Campaign at St. Lawrence

Mica Bodkins earned fifth for the Panthers.

The Middlebury nordic ski team began its 2026 carnival season with Sunday's 10K Classic hosted by St. Lawrence from Mt. Van Hoevenberg. The two-day event is being held in conjunction with the 2026 United States Cross Country National Championships. After one day, Dartmouth leads the way with 224 points, followed by the University of Vermont (217) and the Panthers (203).

WOMEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS

  • The women excelled on the course, finishing in second place in the standings, amassing 109 points.
  • Pacing the squad was Shea Brams, who earned her first podium spot of the season with a third-place finish. The captain secured a time of 30:51.4. 
  • Finishing two spots behind was Mica Bodkins, recording an effort of 31:06.9.
  • Sofia Scirica rounded out the Middlebury scorers with a time of 32:58.1 for 16th.

MEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS

  • The men claimed fourth in the team standings, tallying 94 points.
  • Mason Wheeler led the Panther contingent with a fifth-place clocking of 27:36.4.
  • Peter Warner also finished inside the top-15 slots. The senior completed his race with a time of 27:53.9 to secure 11th.
  • In his initial race in the navy and white, Nathan Doughty earned 19th at 28:07.9.

The program returns to action on Tuesday when it competes in the 1.5K sprint.
