Men’s Swimming and Diving Battles #14 Williams and Hamilton in Tri-Meet

Keith Hartman finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle relay on Saturday, touching the wall in 10:01.66.
The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team fell to 14th-ranked Williams 209-88 and Hamilton 177-111 in Saturday's NESCAC tri-meet in Clinton, New York.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panther quartet of Andrew Dou, Prin Chantarangkul, Jason Chiappinelli and Mark Pearcy clocked a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.83.
  • Dou secured second in the 50 butterfly (23.40 seconds) and third in the 50 backstroke (24.51 seconds).
  • Luke McNamara was third in the 100 fly with a clocking of 52.51 seconds before a fifth-place effort in the 100 individual medley at 54.53.
  • Owen White and Chaz Witter logged top-five finishes on each diving board. White tallied second on the 1-meter board (163.20 points) and third in the 3-meter dive (236.50), while Witter took third (158.70) and fourth (176.35) in the respective events.
  • Keith Hartman posted a third-place finish in the 1,000 free, completing his race in 10:01.66. Owen Currie followed in fourth with a time of 10:07.96.
  • McNamara, Cal Hale, Dou and Chantarangkul earned fourth in the 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:36.22.
  • Chantarangkul claimed fourth and fifth in the 50 free with their times of 21.97 and 22.03, respectively.
  • Completing the top-five finishers were Matthew Sonne in the 200 free (1:47.18) and Currie in the 500 free (4:55.07).
The Panthers return to the Natatorium on Friday, January 30 for the opening session of the Middlebury Invitational. Action is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
