Shea Brams trailed the winner by just 20.1 seconds en route to her second third-place finish of the year on Friday.
The Middlebury nordic ski team hit the course at the Colby Carnival for the 20K mass start from Quarry Road Trails in Waterville, Maine on Friday. With one day of carnival competition remaining, Dartmouth holds the lead in first place (658 points), while the University of New Hampshire (564.5 points) and the University of Vermont (561.5 points) round out the top three. Middlebury sits in fifth with 430 points.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- The women claimed runner-up honors, posting three top-10 finishes to earn 110 points.
- Shea Brams powered the Panther efforts with a third-place finish, stopping the clock at 1:03:28.4.
- Sofia Scirica was the next to cross the finish line, logging a time of 1:04:38.4 to claim seventh.
- Rounding out the scorers was Mica Bodkins, who grabbed ninth at 1:04:48.7.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- On the men's side, the Panthers amassed 90 points to earn a fourth-place finish.
- Mason Wheeler led the way with a time of 55:55.9 to claim fifth on the final leaderboard.
- Finn Veit secured seventh place in his first collegiate outing, crossing the line at 55:59.8.
- The final point-getter was Abrahm Geissinger, who earned 30th with a clocking of 59:36.3.
NOTES
- Brams led the pack of 97 finishers at the end of the fifth and seventh laps en route to her second top-three finish of the season.
- The Middlebury women have placed in the top three in each of their three events this year.
The squad concludes the Colby Carnival tomorrow with the 7.5K interval start. The men's race kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with the women to follow at 1:00 p.m.
