Sophie Calise dropped just four points in her three-game win in the #8 spot.
The #14 Middlebury women's squash team earned its ninth consecutive victory on Tuesday, sweeping #23 Hamilton at the Bostwick Family Squash Center.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Eight of nine matches were decided in three games, including six consecutive sweeps to begin the contest. Caroline Didden set the tone early, dropping just three points in her triumph at #6 (11-0, 11-2, 11-1).
- Lucy Ronda followed, cruising to an 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 victory over Mila Karimov in the seventh slot. Aanvi Anand was the third Panther finisher with a three-game decision against Karis Sun atop the ladder (11-8, 11-6, 11-8).
- Madeline Schwarz claimed 22 of the final 23 points in the fifth spot, besting Sydney Hellinger by an 11-5, 11-1, 11-0 margin. Yu Ying Ng and Izzy Ronda maintained the winning ways with 3-0 wins over Pippa Neupert and Poppy Huffman at #9 and #2, respectively.
- The longest battle of the match came in the fourth slot. Mariana Reedich rallied after dropping the opening game to win in four (6-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-9).
- Sophie Calise and Sabrina Schwarz finalized the match in the eighth and third positions. Calise allowed just four points in her 11-2, 11-0, 11-2 victory over Kathryn Swords, while Schwarz earned decisive wins in each game (11-5, 11-6, 11-6) for the 9-0 win.
NOTES
- The Panthers' nine-match winning streak ties the program record set during the 2023-24 campaign.
- Middlebury and the Continentals met for the 57th matchup in the all-time series. The Panthers own a 48-9 advantage and have secured 16 consecutive wins over their conference foe.
Middlebury hosts #16 Williams on Saturday, January 24 at 2:30 p.m. The program will honor its seniors before the contest.
