Lewis Tallies 100th Triumph Leading Men’s Program As #16 Panthers Blank #21 Bowdoin

Theo Kogan posted Friday's first point with a sweep at #6.
The #16 Middlebury men's squash team blanked #21 Bowdoin 9-0 on Friday from the Bostwick Family Squash Center. With the triumph, Mark Lewis, the John R. Illig Head Coach of Squash, secures his 100th victory as the leader of the men's program. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Theo Kogan started the winning ways for the hosts, easing to an 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 win at #6 over Luc Agudelo.
  • The next two Panther points were posted in come-from-behind fashion. Nico Brown battled back from a 2-1 deficit in the seventh slot, earning a five-game victory over Sachith Vissapragada (9-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-2, 11-3), while Gabe Feinstein posted a reverse sweep in the top spot against Fotis Zafiriou (7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-5). 
  • In the middle of the ladder, Caleb Boateng (11-6, 11-6, 11-4) and Naum Lekovic (11-1, 11-1, 11-3) cruised past their opponents at #5 and #9, respectively, to clinch the match.
  • Ronin Kaplan dropped only six points in his 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 triumph over Oliver Pride from the eighth spot, while David Zhao outlasted Liam Waldron in the second slot (11-7, 9-11, 12-10, 12-10) to push the Middlebury lead to 7-0. 
  • The eighth point came from Kian Kardestuncer in the fourth position in a sweep over Will Maschler (11-5, 11-6, 12-10). 
  • Aditya Kothari closed out the scoring, claiming the final two games against Aryan Singh (11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9) at #3 for the final 9-0 tally.
NOTES
  • The programs squared off for the 25th time with the Panthers securing their fourth-straight triumph and 20th victory in the series.
Middlebury continues its lengthy homestand against #22 Bates with a Saturday match at 3:00 p.m.
