#16 Panthers Push Win Streak to Five With Weekend Wins

Madeline Schwarz surpassed 30 career wins.

The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team pushed its winning streak to five straight contests over the weekend, sweeping Franklin & Marshall 9-0 on Saturday before defeating #20 Dickinson 8-1 during Sunday's slate. Mark Lewis, the John R. Illig Head Coach of Squash, surpassed the century wins mark with the women's program in the triumph over the Diplomats.

HIGHLIGHTS VS. FRANKLIN & MARSHALL

  • The Panthers came out firing with three consecutive wins to open the contest. Lucy Ronda, Mariana Reedich and Aanvi Anand surrendered just 15 combined points over sweeps in the ninth, second and fifth spots, respectively.
  • Madeline Schwarz cruised at #7, defeating Elisabeth Stout in three games (11-2, 11-1, 11-1) for a 4-0 lead.
  • In the fifth slot, Sabrina Schwarz clinched the match for the hosts with her 11-2, 11-3, 11-2 victory over Noelle Bardorf.
  • Middlebury closed the contest with four more 3-0 results, headlined by Caroline Didden conceding just four points in her win against Destiny Ponce in the eighth spot, for the 9-0 team triumph.

HIGHLIGHTS VS. DICKINSON

  • Reedich put Middlebury ahead 1-0 before Lucy Ronda and Anand tallied three-game triumphs at #9 and #2 for a 3-0 advantage.
  • Madeline Schwarz (11-2, 11-1, 11-0) and Sabrina Schwarz (11-6, 11-6, 11-2) helped seal the match with their victories in the seventh and fourth slots.
  • The Panthers pushed the advantage to 5-0 via a sweep from Didden at #8 before Anabel Romero got the Red Devils on the board with an 11-8, 11-5, 11-3 win at the top of the ladder.
  • Lillian Showalter (#6) and Izzy Ronda (#3) closed the match with consecutive 3-0 decisions for the 8-1 final.

NOTES

  • Madeline Schwarz and Izzy Ronda each surpassed 30 career victories.
  • Middlebury earned its 23rd triumph in the series against the Diplomats and has won all six battles with Dickinson dating back to the 2016-17 season.

 The Panthers continue their homestand with another three-match weekend beginning Friday against #18 Bowdoin at 4:00 p.m.
